Hoffman Estates Police Step Up DUI, Seat Belt Enforcement For Labor Day

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL — Hoffman Estates police will increase traffic enforcement through Labor Day as part of statewide efforts targeting impaired driving and seat belt violations.

The department is among more than 200 Illinois law enforcement agencies participating in the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “Drive High. Get a DUI” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns.

The enforcement period begins Aug. 14 and continues through the early morning hours of Sept. 8.

Impaired Driving A Focus

Officers will be watching for motorists impaired by alcohol, cannabis and other drugs, along with other dangerous driving behavior.

Police said the goal is to reduce crashes, injuries and deaths during the holiday travel period.

The department will also enforce Illinois seat belt laws, reminding drivers and passengers that everyone in a vehicle should be properly restrained, whether sitting in the front or back seat.

Part Of Statewide Campaign

The local effort is supported by the Illinois Department of Transportation through federal highway safety funding.

IDOT is also running its “It’s Not a Game” public-awareness campaign across television, radio and digital platforms to emphasize the consequences of impaired driving.
