NBA Star Says Man Who Went Missing At O'Hare 'Found Safe'

Victor Wembanyama posted an update on social media regarding his 23-year-old friend who never boarded his flight back to France last week.

UPDATE: NBA star Victor Wembanyama says the 23-year-old man who went missing after being dropped off last Friday at Chicago O'Hare International Airport has been "found safe."


CHICAGO — The whereabouts of Elijah Hoard remain a mystery as the 23-year-old has not been seen since Friday after being dropped off at Chicago O'Hare International Airport to board a flight back to his home in France. NBA star Victor Wembanyama, a fellow Frenchman, took to social media to ask the public for help in finding Hoard,who Chicago police say never got on his flight.

"Our friend Elijah has been missing from Chicago O'Hare since February 27th," Wembanyama, who plays for the San Antonio Spurs, posted in an Instagram story Monday on his account, which has 5.2 million followers. "If you have any information, please reach out to local authorities."

Chicago police said Hoard — who is described as 6-foot-3, 220 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair, and a "medium" complexion — may need medical attention. He was wearing a brown-hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, and cream-colored shoes when he was last seen

ABC7 Chicago is reporting Hoard had been dropped off at the airport by his father after spending 10 days in Chicago for a visit. Antwon Hoard told the media outlet his son suffers from mental illness and didn't want to return to his home in France. He added that Elijah Hoard never registered his bags or checked in for his flight.

According to SwishCultures, an online media company that covers basketball, Elijah Hoard is the younger brother of Jaylen Hoard, who plays professional basketball in Israel. Elijah Hoard is described as a French basketball prospect himself, having played collegiate basketball in the United States and at other levels of the sport.
