Applications Open For Aurora 4th Of July Parade Grand Marshal

The grand marshal will lead the city's Independence Day parade stepping off in downtown Aurora.

AURORA, IL — Ahead of Independence Day, the City of Aurora is searching for the special person who will lead the 4th of July parade as grand marshal.

The grand marshal will kick off the annual parade, stepping off at 10 a.m. July 4 in downtown Aurora. This year's holiday falls on a Saturday, marking the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

"You know that friend, mentor, or maybe family member that inspires you with all of the amazing things they do?" city officials said. "Well, that's the person we're looking for to be this year's Grand Marshal at the Fourth of July Parade."

In addition to basic identifying information, the application poses the question: "Why should the nominee be considered for Grand Marshal?"

Locals have until 5 p.m. June 12 to submit their applications.
