Criminal Investigation Underway Near Galena Boulevard, Westlawn Avenue: Aurora PD

AURORA, IL — A "local criminal investigation" is underway Thursday morning near Galena Boulevard and Westlawn Avenue, Aurora police said.

A heightened police presence was gathered in the area as of 7:53 a.m., according to an alert shared on Facebook. Although officials did not share what occurred, they said the incident poses no active or ongoing threat to the community.

"We are asking the public to stay clear of the immediate area and use alternate routes as officers continue their investigation," officials said.

Police said they will share updates as they become available.
