Phillips Park Golf Course To Host Inaugural Junior Golf Championship

The American Junior Golf Association is bringing its Junior All-Star event to the Midwest for the first time.

AURORA, IL — Phillips Park Golf Course will host the inaugural American Junior Golf Association All-Star Championship this June.

The event, held in partnership between the City of Aurora and AJGA, will feature a 96-player field comprised of children ages 12 to 15.

"As a Junior All-Star tournament, the championship is designed to help emerging players gain experience in a nationally recognized AJGA setting while competing against peers from across the region," the city said of the event.

The tournament week will begin with a qualifier game and official practice round June 15, giving junior golfers more opportunities for competition. Championship play will run June 16-18, featuring 54 holes of stroke play.

After the second round on June 17, the field will be cut to the top 60 percent ahead of the final round.

"We're thrilled to bring a new Junior All-Star event to the Midwest with the addition of the Chicago Junior All-Star Championship," Ryan Flanagan, AJGA senior regional director for the Midwest, said in a statement. "This championship strengthens our presence in the region while providing meaningful competitive opportunities for young junior golfers."
