Driver Dies After Vehicle Is Hit By Metra Train In Barrington
The driver was critically injured in a three-vehicle crash near Northwest Highway and Hart Road and later died, authorities said.
BARRINGTON, IL — A man died Friday after his vehicle was struck by a Metra train following a three-vehicle crash in Barrington, authorities said.
The crash happened shortly before noon near Northwest Highway and Hart Road, where the vehicle was on the tracks when it was hit by an outbound Union Pacific Northwest Line train, according to the Daily Herald. The driver, believed to be 49, was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital with critical injuries and later died.
No injuries were reported among the train's passengers or crew, and the crash remains under investigation by Metra police, according to the article.
