7 Cars Crash On Randall Road, Woman Hospitalized: Batavia PD

BATAVIA, IL — Seven cars crashed early Monday on Randall Road near Main Street, resulting in one hospitalization, Batavia police said.

Officers were dispatched at about 6:53 a.m. to the busy Randall Road corridor. A Chevrolet Malibu was at fault in the pile-up, police said, after the driver rear-ended a Kia Sportage on northbound Randall Road.

The impact sent the Malibu into the southbound lane, where it collided with a Hyundai Tucson. The Tucson then spun into the northbound lane, where it hit three cars: two Ford F-150s and a Peterbilt semi-truck, officials said.

A seventh car, a Lotus Evora sports car, was driving south behind the Hyundai Tucson when it swerved to avoid the crash but sustained damage from debris.

The driver of the Tucson, a 50-year-old woman, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Three of the seven vehicles were towed from the scene. The driver of the Malibu, a 21-year-old man, was cited for improper lane usage.
