Batavia Liquor Store Burglarized: Police

Two suspects broke a window and stole an undetermined amount of cash and liquor, police said.

BATAVIA, IL — Two burglars broke into Windmill Market & Spirits early Wednesday and stole an undetermined amount of cash and liquor, Batavia police said.

Officers were dispatched just before 3 a.m. to the liquor store on East Wilson Street for a business alarm. Upon arriving, police found a broken window at the front of the shop. No one was inside.

Surveillance footage showed a silver or gray Chevrolet van arriving at the store at about 2:45 a.m., having driven via southbound North Prairie Street, police said. Two people exited the vehicle, broke the window and entered the store to grab the items before they reentered the car through the passenger side of the van. Police believe there was a third person involved who remained in the van, according to a news release.
