Weekend Shooting On Wilson Street Was Targeted: Batavia Police
A person is in custody in connection to the Saturday night incident, but police withheld their identity, citing an ongoing investigation.
BATAVIA, IL — Shots fired Saturday night on West Wilson Street are believed to have been targeted, Batavia police said.
Batavia officers were dispatched around 9:45 p.m. to the 1300 block of West Wilson Street after 911 callers advised hearing what sounded either like gunshots or fireworks. Shortly after, the callers reported a disturbance between multiple unknown people in the hallway, according to a Monday news release.
Upon arrival, police determined the noises heard were gunshots but said they did not locate any injuries.

Officers also observed a car fleeing, which failed to stop for officers, officials said. Kane County sheriff's deputies later located the car in Montgomery.
Batavia police said the driver was subsequently taken into custody for multiple traffic offenses and the investigation into the Wilson Street disturbance. Officials did not release the person's information, citing possible involvement in the incident.
