5 South Side Parishes Come Together To Host Prayer Service In Solidarity With Minneapolis

CHICAGO — Five Catholic parishes from Chicago’s South Side, who together form Southside Catholic Peace and Justice, will host the “You Are My Neighbor” prayer service for peace in solidarity with the people of Minnesota on Friday, Jan. 30.

The service starts at 5 p.m. at St. Barnabas Parish, 10134 S. Longwood Drive, Chicago. The Very Rev. Anthony B. Pizzo, O.S.A., prior provincial of the Midwest Augustinian Province, will preside over the service.

Christ the King, St. Barnabas, St. Cajetan Parish, St. John Fisher and St. Mary Magdalene churches form the ministry and welcome all to attend the service.

Students from Brother Rice High School, Marist High School, Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School, Mount Carmel High School and St. Rita of Cascia High School will serve as greeters, readers and ushers.

The gathering is an opportunity for communal prayer, reflection and unity, emphasizing the call to peace, compassion and neighborly solidarity with the people of Minnesota.
