BTG Holds Open Auditions For Children, Teens and Adults For 'Shrek: The Musical'

CHICAGO – The Beverly Theatre Guild will host open auditions for its 63rd season closer, “Shrek: The Musical.” Roles are open for children, teens and adults.

Auditions are scheduled for the end of January. Children’s auditions will be held Sunday, Jan. 25, in the dining hall at Morgan Park Academy, 2153 W. 111th St., Chicago, from noon to 3 p.m. Auditions for teens and adults will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26 and Wednesday, Jan. 28, in the Baer Theater at Morgan Park Academy, home of the BTG. Callbacks will be held Jan. 30, if necessary.

This is a singing and dancing audition, so wear comfortable clothes and bring tap shoes, if you have them. Audition slots must be reserved in advance. Detailed information, character descriptions, and the sign-up schedule can be found on We Join In Adults/Teens and We Join In Children.

“Shrek: The Musical” will be directed by Columbia College Chicago alum Ashley Keys, with assistant direction by Katie Duffy Regalado. Music directors will be BTG’s seasoned dream team of Sharon Mason and Michael Barr-Schinzel. For choreography, Sarah Beth Lipsman is returning, whose work on last season's closer "Gypsy" wowed audiences. This irreverently fun show for all ages is being produced by Barb Lenihan, John Gronkowski, and Mac Gillespie.

Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 25, and at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26.

The Beverly Theatre Guild is Chicago’s longest running community theater company.
