Saint Xavier University Seeks Musicians For Community Concert Band

CHICAGO—If you haven’t picked up your flute since high school or college, the Saint Xavier University Community Concert Band invites musicians throughout Chicago’s Southwest Side and surrounding communities to join the concert band for an exciting season of music-making.

Adult community musicians, current and retired music educators, college students, advanced high school musicians, former military musicians and those returning to their instruments after time away from playing are welcome.

The SXU Community Concert Band is currently seeking:

• Flute and Piccolo
• Oboe
• Bassoon
• Clarinet and Bass Clarinet
• Alto, Tenor and Baritone Saxophone
• Trumpet
• French Horn
• Trombone
• Euphonium/Baritone
• Tuba
• String Bass
• Percussion

All sections are welcome.

Rehearsals are 6:30 to 8 p.m. Mondays. The concert band will rehearse and perform quality concert-band literature in a welcoming, rewarding musical environment.

Whether you have been performing continuously or your instrument has been waiting in its case for a few years, there is a place for you in the band.
