Man Dies After Domestic Incident In Wheeling: Police

A person of interest is in custody after police said a 55-year-old man sustained physical injuries before his death.

WHEELING, IL — Police are investigating the death of a 55-year-old man following a late-night incident on Wildberry Court in Wheeling.

At approximately 11:50 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to the 1100 block of Wildberry Court for a report of a person not breathing, according to the Wheeling Police Department.

When officers arrived, they found a 55-year-old man unresponsive. Members of the Wheeling Fire Department provided emergency medical aid before taking him to Glenbrook Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

As detectives continued investigating, they determined the man had sustained physical injuries believed to be consistent with a domestic incident before his death, according to police.

A person of interest has been taken into custody.

Investigators believe the incident was isolated, and there is no threat to the community, police said.

The investigation remains active and is being conducted by the Wheeling Police Department in coordination with the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

No additional information about the victim, the person in custody or possible charges was immediately released.
