Remorseful Thief Returns Stolen $2 Cigarillo To Store: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter

The store owner did not press charges or have the man trespassed from the business.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

  • Alan I. Wence, 22, of the 1000 block of Muirfield Avenue, Waukegan, is accused of driving on a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle when registration is suspended, and was arrested at 6:22 p.m. April 10, at Lake Cook Road and Lexington. A court date of April 27 was assigned.
  • Jose A. Castro, 37, of the 2000 block of Devonshire Road, Waukegan, is accused of driving on a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, use of an electronic communication device on roadway, and was arrested at 10:11 a.m. April 13, At Dundee and Buffalo Grove roads. A court date of May 22 was assigned.
  • Mohammad R. Shahin, 25, of the 800 block of Zinnia Lane, Palatine, is accused of driving on a suspended license, use of an electronic communication device on roadway, and was arrested at 10:27 a.m. April 14, at Dundee and Buffalo Grove roads. A court date of May 15 was assigned.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Eduardo Hernandez Sanchez, 22, of the 4200 block of Jennifer Lane, Arlington Heights, is accused of driving under the influence, improper lighting head or taillights, and was arrested at 11:48 p.m. April 10, in the 900 block of Old Arlington Court. A court date of May 13 was assigned.

INCIDENTS

RETAIL THEFT

It was reported at 9 a.m. April 13, that a man had stolen one White Owl cigarillo ($2 value) from a store in the 20 block of N. Buffalo Grove Road. Police said the man had become remorseful, returned to the store, apologized and paid for the item. The store owner did not want to sign complaints for retail theft or have the man trespassed.

THEFT

A business owner in the 300 block of Red Bud reported at 7:48 p.m. April 13, that they had been scammed out of $4,527.65 by someone on the phone saying he had an energy bill that was past due.
