Screams, Rapid Gunshots Draw Channahon Police To Subdivision Where Resident Arrested, Search Warrant Issued

CHANNAHON, IL — The Channahon Police Department has arrested Brian Stachelski, a 42-year-old man from their community, in connection with charges of reckless discharge of a firearm in the man's neighborhood off McClintock Road.

According to police chief Adam Bogart, the incident surrounding Stachelski's arrest happened very late Tuesday night.

At 11:28 p.m. Channahon's Police officers were dispatched to the area of West Essex Drive and South Kent Road for multiple reports of a man screaming and gunshots, Bogatt noted.

Multiple witnesses told police they heard several gunshots fired in rapid succession.

As officers canvassed the area, a man, later identified as Brian R. Stachelski, was flagged down an officer and surrendered in front of his residence, Bogart said.

Channahon police said their officers saw multiple shell casings in the home’s driveway and open garage. Officers determined no one else was present at the Stachelski home. No injuries or damage to property was reported during the officers’ initial investigation.

Bogart said that Stachelski was arrested and charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and Stachelski remains in custody at the Will County Adult Detention Facility, awaiting his detention hearing.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Channahon Police officers served a search warrant of Stachelski’s residence and vehicle. Multiple guns were recovered along with additional evidence, Bogart advised Joliet Patch. Jail logs indicate that Stachelski resides in the 23700 block of West Essex Drive.
