Great Moments In Vinyl play the "Hits of 1976"

Great Moments In Vinyl performs a live tribute to "The Hits of 1976" in the Joliet Area Historical Museum's Indoor Auditorium Theater venue on Friday, October 23rd at 7pm (doors open 6:15pm).

1976! The year of the U. S. Bicentennial. The same year that Apple produced its first computer, CB radios became a fad, 7-Eleven served their first Big Gulp, and Honda marketed its first Accord.

We headed to movie theaters in droves to see both Rocky and All the President’s Men that year. Or stayed home to watch Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley…or perhaps a brand new TV series called The Muppet Show.

But if you were more of a music fan, you probably visited your local record store to help make Frampton Comes Alive the best selling album of 1976…and to give Paul McCartney and his group Wings the #1 song of the year.

Rock fans got acquainted with newcomers Tom Petty, Warren Zevon, and Heart in ’76. David Bowie took us on a new musical adventure. And artists toiling in obscurity Bob Seger, Steve Miller, and Thin Lizzy made their commercial breakthroughs.

But that’s just scratching the vinyl surface. (“Wocka wocka!”) We’ve got more hit songs and more highlights to treat you to...plus a handful of surprises…when Great Moments in Vinyl tells the stories of The Hits of 1976 at the Museum.

Doors at 6:15 pm, show at 7pm. Beverage bar, snack vendor, access to museum galleries & exhibits. Only $17 for Museum Members or $19 for General Public. Museum located at 204 N. Ottawa St. in downtown Joliet.
