The Arts Are For Everyone At Spotlight Performance Academy

Spotlight Performance Academy has announced its full slate of programming for the Winter 2026 season.

This season sees the return of popular Improv programs for kids and teens. Participants in Kidprov (grades 3-6) and TeenProv (grades 7-12) will learn the basics of improv including character development, scene work, confidence, and quick thinking while enjoying a variety of games to play in and out of class!

Does your child dream of acting on stage? Our theater program this season includes Let’s Shine (grades K-2) and Let’s Act (grades 3-6), allowing young thespians to learn about working together in an ensemble to create magic on the stage.

Miss Angie’s Music Makers (ages 1-5) is a fun, interactive program for littles with a caregiver. The natural connection between music and movement will be explored through games and song in a safe and fun environment.

Teens and adults looking for an exciting, low-pressure way to get moving while having a great time might want to check out Musical Theater Dance. No dance experience is necessary, as variations will be given to accommodate different dance abilities and learning styles.

Have you dreamed of singing onstage? Teens and adults can join 3 Minutes in the Spotlight. Singers have the opportunity to choose a favorite song and prepare it for performance. You will work one on one with a vocal coach in a small group to elevate your voice, technique and stage presence. The class culminates in a performance for family and friends.

The crown jewels in Spotlight’s programming are the Bel Canto Choirs. With ensembles for children ages 5-15, Bel Canto is the largest children’s community choir program in the south suburbs of Chicago. In these classes, students will develop a love for singing, artistry, and expression through engaging repertoire and inspiring rehearsals. Children can participate in the Children's Choir (grades K-2), Youth Choir (grades 3-5), and Concert Choir (grades 6-8).

Studies confirm that the benefits of choral singing extend beyond musicianship and extend to physical and emotional well being. In the Community Choir for teens and adults, participants will sing various genres of music with the focus being on fun! Absolutely no musical experience or audition is required.

All Bel Canto Choirs will perform at a concert at Homewood-Flossmoor High School on Sunday, April 26th at 3 p.m.

Registration for the Winter 2026 season can be completed at www.spotlightperformanceacademy.com and will remain open until Sunday, January 25.

All classes will be held at the Homewood Science Center, 18022, Dixie Highway, Homewood, IL.
