CHMS’ Parent Partnership Collective and Student Council Hold Its 1st Bingo Night
El Colectivo de Colaboración con los Padres y el Consejo Estudiantil de CHMS celebran su primera Noche de Bingo
Chicago Heights Middle School recently hosted its first Bingo Night, organized by the Parent Partnership Collective and Student Council.
The event, held on April 16th, was a resounding success, fostering meaningful connections among CHMS families, building a sense of community, and providing an evening of excitement and fantastic prizes.
Bingo Night was developed at a Parent Partnership meeting as a meaningful way to build bonds with CHMS guardians and parents. The Parent Partnership Collective is a new initiative launched by STEM and Makerspace teacher Kel Burgess-Nelson in fall 2025-2026.

Reflecting on the collaborative spirit that pervaded the evening, Mrs. Burgess-Nelson shared: “In the words of Helen Keller: ‘Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much!’”
Assistant Principal Shawnell Nash thanked Student Council members and CHMS Ambassadors for helping with decorations, welcoming guests, and distributing bingo cards and chips.

“A special thanks also goes to the parents and guardians who contributed their time and ideas to help make the event happen,” she said.
According to CHMS staff, the feedback from the evening emphasized how much the event helped families feel more connected. Several parents shared their enjoyment and eagerness for future Bingo Nights, underscoring the positive impact on the school community.
“The night was truly enjoyable, and members of the Parent Partnership Collective summarized the event as both fun and highly successful,” Burgess-Nelson noted.
Assistant Principal Nash thanked everyone for helping make the event a success, saying, “We look forward to more opportunities to connect as a school community.”

La Escuela Secundaria de Chicago Heights (CHMS) organizó recientemente su primera Noche de Bingo, a cargo del Colectivo de Colaboración con los Padres y el Consejo Estudiantil.
El evento, celebrado el 16 de abril, fue un éxito rotundo, ya que fomentó vínculos significativos entre las familias de CHMS, fortaleció el sentido de comunidad y ofreció una velada llena de emoción y premios fantásticos.
La Noche de Bingo se ideó en una reunión del Colectivo de Colaboración de Padres como una forma significativa de crear vínculos con los tutores y padres de CHMS. El Colectivo de Colaboración de Padres es una nueva iniciativa lanzada por la profesora de STEM y Makerspace, Kel Burgess-Nelson, en el otoño de 2025-2026.

El subdirector Nash agradeció a todos por contribuir al éxito del evento y afirmó: “Esperamos con interés tener más oportunidades de estrechar lazos como comunidad escolar”.
