LAKE COUNTY, IL – As summer temperatures climb across Lake County, splash pads remain one of the easiest and most popular ways for families to cool off.
From large interactive spraygrounds to smaller neighborhood parks, Lake County offers plenty of free and low-cost options for kids to stay active all season long.

Here are some of the best splash pads to visit this summer:
Buffalo Grove – Spray ‘N Play, 951 McHenry Road
One of the largest splash pads in the region, featuring dozens of water jets, fountains, and shaded seating areas.

Open: May 29 – Aug. 30
Hours: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 12:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
Cost: $5 for children and adults, $3 for seniors (62 years old and older) and $3 for twilight time (5:30 to 7 p.m.)

Central Park Splash Pad, Grayslake
A popular downtown park district splash pad designed for younger children, featuring multiple spray features and adjacent playground and park amenities.

Open: Memorial Day through Labor Day
Hours: Typically 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily

Community Park Sprayground, Mundelein
A large park district sprayground with interactive water features, sand play area, and playground access.

Open: May 24 to Sept. 7
Hours: Typically 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The sprayground, as of May 27, was closed due to mechanical issues.
Cost: $2 for residents and $7 for non-residents

Paulus Park Sprayground, Lake Zurich
A scenic lakefront splash pad with water play features, beach access, picnic areas, and open green space.

A relaxed lakefront spray area combining seasonal water features with beach access and open park space.

Oak Ridge Park and Splash Pad, Lindenhurst
The splash pad featuring multiple fountains, water dumping-beehives a manual spin sprinkler and rotating turtle and frog sprayers. The park also features picnic tables and a pavilion, an archaeological sand dig, disc golf course, and paved walking and biking trails.
