Crystal Lake Man Arrested On Child Sex Abuse Material Charges

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A 27-year-old Crystal Lake man was arrested Thursday after police executed a search warrant at a residence on Carlemont Drive as part of an investigation into child sexual abuse material.

The Crystal Lake Police Department executed the warrant on Thursday at a residence in the 600 block of Carlemont Drive, according to a department news release.

The investigation began after the department received information through the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, of which Crystal Lake police are participating members, police said. The department's Criminal Investigations Unit then conducted the investigation that led to the search warrant.

Following the search, John M. Anderlik, 27, was taken into custody. He has been charged with two counts of disseminating or offering to disseminate child sexual abuse material depicting a victim under 18, a Class X felony; and two counts of possessing child sexual abuse material depicting a victim under 18, a Class 2 felony.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
