Flood Resource Centers Open In Cary, Wauconda

Two multi-agency resource centers will open this weekend in Lake and McHenry counties to assist residents impacted by recent severe storms and flooding, officials announced.

The centers, hosted in partnership with the American Red Cross, will provide a one-stop location where residents can meet with agencies, report damage and receive help navigating recovery resources, according to the news release. Both locations will serve residents from either county.

The first resource center will be available from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Life Bridge Christian Church, 700 W. Liberty Street in Wauconda. The second will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at Cary Village Hall, 755 Georgetown Drive in Cary.

Residents will be able to learn about potential financial assistance, obtain cleanup supplies, access well water testing kits, speak with insurance and legal support agencies, and connect with veteran assistance and other recovery services.

Officials said even those with minor damage may be eligible for aid and are encouraged to attend.
