McHenry Man Charged With DUI After Head-On Crash With Semi

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 42-year-old McHenry man has been charged with driving under the influence after authorities say his SUV crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a semi-truck near Crystal Lake last week.

The crash happened around 3:50 p.m. on Sept. 21 near Walkup Road and Running Iron Drive, where firefighters extricated the man from his Nissan Murano before he was taken to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, according to Lake & McHenry County Scanner.

The semi-truck driver was evaluated at the scene but declined hospitalization, authorities said.

The McHenry man was charged with two counts of DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and improper lane usage and is due in court Oct. 7, according to the article.
