DARIEN, IL – Darien police were called twice in one day last week to Carriage Greens Country Club.

Shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday, an officer responded to a report of damaged property. Someone had driven a golf cart through standing water, causing up to $5,000 in damage, police said.

About 7:30 p.m., police were dispatched again. Three men refused to leave the course after staff asked them to do so, police said.

At the time, owner Brian Broderick said neighbors had turned a "blind eye" to vandals and trespassers. He warned the club might put up a fence, something neighbors did not want.

The club then got a permit for the fence.
