Woman Cut With Knife, 2 DUI Arrests: Des Plaines Police Blotter

DES PLAINES, IL — A man accused of cutting a 67-year-old woman with a knife, two DUI arrests and a residential burglary are among the latest cases reported by the Des Plaines Police Department.

The following information comes from Des Plaines Police Department reports. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

AGGRAVATED BATTERY

Jacon Telles, 30, of Des Plaines, was arrested Sept. 7 after police responded to the 1000 block of Walter Avenue for a report of a battery.

A 67-year-old woman told officers Telles had been staying in an RV on the property and threatened her with a knife, according to police. The woman attempted to push Telles away, and her hand came into contact with the blade, cutting her finger.

Police said Telles returned to the RV and refused repeated orders to come outside. Officers entered the RV and grabbed Telles, who allegedly attempted to bite them and repeatedly flailed his body while officers tried to take him into custody.

Telles was eventually handcuffed and taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Cook County State's Attorney's Office approved two felony counts of aggravated battery. Telles was also charged with misdemeanor resisting a peace officer and was expected to appear for a detention hearing.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

A 56-year-old Des Plaines man reported that someone broke into his Ford Transit while it was parked overnight Sept. 3-4 in the 1400 block of South Fifth Avenue.

Police said the driver's-side window was broken and a Milwaukee tool set and Kobalt Sawzall were stolen from the rear of the van.

BURGLARY

A 61-year-old Des Plaines woman reported that someone broke into her apartment in the 800 block of Pearson Street between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sept. 4.

Police said a window was broken and the apartment was left disheveled. Jewelry and approximately $300 in cash were reported missing.

DUI

Miguel Gallegos, 22, of Gurnee, was arrested at around 1:30 a.m. Sept. 5, following a traffic stop in the 600 block of South Des Plaines River Road.

Police said an officer initially noticed a blue Volkswagen SUV with a cover over its Illinois registration.

During the stop, the officer reported that Gallegos had bloodshot and watery eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol. A white plastic cup containing an unknown liquid was also in the center console, according to police.

Gallegos refused field sobriety tests and later refused additional testing and questioning at the police station, police said.

He was charged with misdemeanor DUI and cited for operating a vehicle with a registration plate cover before being released with court information.

REVOKED LICENSE

Jose Segovia, 36, of Des Plaines, was arrested at around 2:11 a.m. Sept. 5, in the 600 block of Kinkaid Court.

Police were called after someone reported a white vehicle had been revving its engine for about 30 minutes and that a person appeared to be sleeping inside.

Officers found Segovia asleep inside the vehicle, according to police. Segovia told officers he had driven there from Sixth Avenue.

A records check showed his driver's license was revoked, police said. Segovia was charged with misdemeanor driving on a revoked license and cited for operating an uninsured vehicle. He was cited and released.

DUI

Allan Valdez, 29, of Des Plaines, was arrested at around 12:20 a.m. Sept. 6, following a traffic stop in the 100 block of South Des Plaines River Road.

Police said an officer saw a Chevrolet Camaro following other vehicles too closely, weaving through traffic and failing to maintain its lane.

The officer reported smelling alcohol on Valdez and said his face was flushed and his speech appeared impaired. Police said Valdez used the vehicle to steady himself as he got out but denied drinking alcohol.

Valdez refused field sobriety tests and additional testing at the police station, according to the report.

He was charged with misdemeanor DUI and cited for failure to signal, following too closely, failure to yield while passing and improper lane usage. He was cited and released with court information.

ORDER OF PROTECTION VIOLATIONS

Dimitre Stoitzev, 57, of Des Plaines, was arrested at around 9:50 a.m. Sept. 6, in the 1400 block of South Fourth Avenue.

Police responded after receiving a report that Stoitzev was violating an order of protection. Officers found him parked down the street, where he said he wanted to retrieve property from a residence.

Police said the order of protection listed both the residence and victim. Investigators also learned Stoitzev allegedly texted the victim and sent her a video through social media, both in violation of the court order.

He was charged with two misdemeanor counts of violating an order of protection and taken to a Cook County courthouse for a detention hearing.

HIT-AND-RUN

A Tesla was parked in the 1200 block of South Sixth Avenue at around 9:20 p.m. Sept. 6, when another driver backed into it and left the scene, police said.

The other vehicle was described as a black Chevrolet Silverado.

WARRANT ARREST

Alicia Kalar, 50, of LaPorte, Indiana, was arrested Sept. 7 after police responded to a suspicious incident in the 1000 block of Greenview Avenue.

Police learned Kalar had an active, extraditable Cook County sheriff's warrant and had left the area in a black Toyota.

Officers later stopped the Toyota in the 1300 block of East Prairie Avenue after it allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign. Kalar, who was a passenger, was taken into custody and later brought to a Cook County courthouse for a detention hearing.

REVOKED LICENSE, WARRANT

Anthony Tillman, 53, of LaPorte, Indiana, was driving the Toyota involved in the Kalar arrest, police said.

A records check showed Tillman's driver's license had been revoked and that he also had an active warrant.

Tillman was arrested on the warrant, charged with misdemeanor driving on a revoked license and cited for disobeying a stop sign. He was cited and released with court information.
