The 3,000-year history of the labyrinth, and the reasons people still walk it, will be the focus of an hour-long program beginning at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 18, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Downers Grove.
"Why in the World Would I Walk a Labyrinth?" will explain the inspiration and purpose behind this ancient device, which has been used throughout the centuries as a tool for meditation, stress reduction, creativity, spiritual guidance and prayer.
Following the presentation, the St. Andrew's labyrinth will remain open until 4 p.m. for participants who wish to walk it. Labyrinth stewards and a spiritual advisor will be available to answer questions or hear about your experience.
Admission is free and refreshments will be available. The event is sponsored by the Daughters of the King St. Marie Chapter, a prayer order of the Episcopal Church.
When: 2-4 p.m., Saturday, July 18
Where: St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 1125 Franklin St., Downers Grove.
Please enter by the south door at the back of the building and take the elevator to the upper level, where the labyrinth is located.
