A secular, diverse, college prep, alternative learning community focusing on critical thinking, collaboration, communication and creativity for students elementary through high school (full-time, part-time or hybrid). We emphasize critical thinking, communication and collaboration skills across all levels. We have three levels of mixed-aged small cohorts that allow for differentiation that ensures all students are stretched without being stressed. We are college-prep without college pressure. Students are placed by ability vs. age and we are low-tech, but not no-tech. Our students use real books and writing utensils. Bullying is not tolerated here and we have a longstanding community culture of respect and encouragement among students and adults. Classes are taught in an eclectic combination of styles that includes themed, project-based, Modeling Instruction drawn from various pedagogies. After graduating from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts in political science, I joined Edward Jones in 1998. During my tenure, I served in many leadership positions within the firm. In 2018, I became a regional leader for the Chicago western suburbs, overseeing 58 branch teams serving thousands of families. I became a general partner with Edward Jones in 2020. I take a very personalized approach to financial advising. My branch team includes Joyce Marzo. We take the time to learn what is important to our clients and I tailor a strategy to help them achieve their goals. In my practice, I typically work with three generations of families, helping them navigate life's financial challenges. DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Two drivers were hurt in a three-car crash in which a box truck hit a home in the 2400 block of Maple Avenue in unincorporated Downers Grove Thursday afternoon. Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District Fire Chief Jimmy Lahanis told Patch the driver of the box truck had to be extricated because of a medical emergency. He and the other injured driver, who sustained minor injuries were taken to a nearby hospital. Lahanis said no one was home at the time of the crash. This is a developing story; check back for updates.

Sanctuary in Trauma is excited to announce the opening of its first physical office in the Lisle Town Centre and invites the community to celebrate at an Open House on Saturday, July 18, from 1-3 pm at 1111 Burlington Avenue, Lisle, IL, Suite 110. Sanctuary in Trauma is a Christ-centered nonprofit ministry dedicated to walking alongside women who have experienced trauma, loss, and hardship. Through Biblical teaching, practical tools, support groups, and leader training, the ministry equips churches and communities to offer hope and healing rooted in the truth of Scripture.After years of serving women from homes, coffee shops, churches, and borrowed meeting spaces, this new office marks an important milestone in the ministry's continued growth. The space will provide a welcoming environment for meetings, volunteer collaboration, leadership training, and ministry operations as Sanctuary in Trauma expands its reach. "We are incredibly grateful for God's faithfulness in providing this space," said Executive Director Dana Kemp. "This office represents more than four walls—it is a reminder of the many people who have prayed, volunteered, given generously, and come alongside this ministry so that more women can experience hope in Christ.
