The Lucky Monk Seeks Liquor License Amid Plans To Open At Former Brick House Tavern Spot

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — The Downers Grove Liquor Commission will review a liquor license application from The Lucky Monk, a brewpub that plans to open in the spot that was once home to Brick House Tavern & Tap, 1461 Butterfield Road.

The Lucky Monk is seeking a Class R-3/O liquor license, which would permit the sale of liquor, beer and wine at the restaurant and for consumption offsite. The license will also allow The Lucky Monk to serve alcohol outdoors.

According to village documents, The Lucky Monk will be open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

A draft menu shows The Lucky Monk will offer small batch craft beer that is brewed in-house, along with bottles, cocktails, ciders, wine and mocktails.

Food items include truffle fries, tacos, burgers, slow-braised short ribs, pepperjack macaroni and cheese, fish and chips and pizza. The Lucky Monk currently has a location in South Barrington.

The Liquor Commission meeting will be held June 11 at 6:30 p.m.
