Village Council Will Review Proposal For Automatic Car Wash On Butterfield
The proposed car wash would repurpose the restaurant site at 1341 Butterfield Rd.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — The Downers Grove Village Council will review a request for a special use permit and zoning variations that would allow an automatic car wash to be built and 1341 Butterfield Rd.
The site, currently occupied by Casa Margarita, is zoned B-3 for general services and highway business. The special use permit would allow for a car wash within the current zoning.
Petitioners plan to tear down the current building and construct a 3,270 square foot car wash with 20 stalls equipped with vacuums.

One requested zoning variance would allow the car wash's stacking lane to extend closer the property's east border. The other would permit the car wash to have just one space for drying instead of two.
At its May 19 meeting, the Downers Grove planning and zoning commission unanimously recommended the requests for approval, with the condition that hand drying be prohibited at the car wash exit.
