Basement Explosion Injures 2 In Elgin: Fire Officials
Emergency crews responded to the blast Wednesday afternoon as investigators worked to determine the cause of the explosion.
ELGIN, IL β Two people were injured Wednesday afternoon after an explosion occurred in the basement of a home in Elgin.
The Daily Herald is reporting emergency crews responded to the home in the 500 Block of West Chicago Street at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, where the blast caused significant damage to the residence, fire officials said. The blast blew out two walls in the basement of the home, and fire officials noticed a natural gas smell coming from the residence.
The injured individuals were transported to local hospitals, though officials did not immediately release details about the extent of their injuries.
