South Elgin Man Learns Sentence For Dissemination Of Child Pornography: Mosser

SOUTH ELGIN, IL — A South Elgin man was sentenced to 14 years in prison for disseminating child pornography, the Kane County State's Attorney's Office said.

On Jan. 8, 2025, Kristofer Ray McMullen sent a video depicting child sexual abuse to an undercover computer used by the Kane County State’s Attorney's Child Exploitation Unit, according to a news release. The file showed a child who was "clearly under the age of 13," prosecutors said.

McMullen, now 47, agreed to the allotted time in the Illinois Department of Corrections in exchange for a guilty plea to dissemination of child sexual abuse material. Judge David Kliment accepted the plea.

McMullen will be credited for the 571 days served in the Kane County jail and is eligible for day-for-day sentencing, prosecutors said.

In addition to the prison term, McMullen, of the 600 block of Elizabeth Street, is also required to register for life as a sexual offender.

"Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) is not a victimless crime," Assistant State's Attorney Amanda Busljeta said in a statement. "Those who possess and share this material online continue to motivate those who commit these horrific assaults against children.
