Elmhurst Woman Warns Off Dark-Hooded Suspects In Neighborhood: Police

ELMHURST, IL – In recent days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving dark-hooded suspects, forklift joyriding, retail theft, a security guard, a stolen car and a resident with a warrant. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Dark-hooded suspects

• A resident in the 400 block of North Emroy Avenue told police Aug. 24 that she saw two people in dark-hooded sweatshirts go into a nearby garage. She yelled at them, and they ran back to their car and headed north on Emroy. Nothing appeared to be missing from a car in the garage. Police, who labeled the crime as burglary of a car, did not give a time for the incident.

Forklift joyriding

• A representative of the McMaster-Carr plant, 600 N. County Line Road, told police Aug. 23 that he noticed a forklift had been moved. Reviewing video surveillance, he saw several cars enter the parking lot and young adults driving the forklift, doing donuts. The incident occurred about 12:30 a.m. Aug. 22. An investigation is pending.

Retail theft

• A 47-year-old Elmhurst woman who lives in the 200 block of West North Avenue was arrested about 1 p.m. Wednesday on a retail theft charge. Police said the incident occurred at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller St. The woman was released.
• A 68-year-old Des Plaines woman was arrested about 3 p.m. Aug. 24 on a retail theft charge. Police said the incident occurred at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. She was released.

Warrant

• A 31-year-old Elmhurst woman who lives in the 400 block of East Vallette Street was arrested Wednesday on a warrant. Police said the incident that generated the warrant occurred about 1 p.m. July 11 in the 1000 block of Eldridge Lane. She was released.

Bruising incident

• A man told police Tuesday that a security officer at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road, grabbed his arm, causing a bruise. An investigation is pending.

Stolen car

• A car was stolen Wednesday from the 100 block of North Geneva Avenue. Police later found it parked on the street in Calumet City. An investigation is pending.
