3 Arrested, 41 Cited In Evanston During Independence Day Campaign

Over the Fourth of July enforcement period, police were on the lookout for traffic violations.

EVANSTON, IL — The Evanston Police Department released the results of its 2026 Fourth of July traffic enforcement campaign, which led to the arrests of three people and over 40 citations.

During the Fourth of July enforcement period:

  • Three people were arrested for driving with suspended or revoked licenses;
  • Police issued 10 seat belt citations;
  • Police issued 14 speeding citations;
  • Police issued 4 insurance violations;
  • Police issued 4 distracted driving citations;
  • Police issued 9 citations for various moving and non-moving violations;

Evanston police partnered with state and local law enforcement as well as highway safety partners for the campaign. The effort was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
