Back-To-School Block Party Returning To Evanston Township High School

Families can head to Lazier Field for a free back-to-school celebration with music, activities and food.

EVANSTON, IL — Evanston's annual 'Kits, 'Cats and Kids Block Party will return Sept. 1 to kick off the back-to-school season with a community celebration at Evanston Township High School.

The free event is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 1, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Lazier Field, at Church Street and Hartrey Avenue.

The event is designed for the wider community and will include activities for children, students and families. Organizers said guests can expect family-friendly games, inflatables, arts and crafts, and information tables hosted by community organizations.

The ETHS and Northwestern University marching bands are scheduled to perform on the field during the event, adding to the back-to-school atmosphere.

A pep rally is also planned, giving students a chance to show school and community spirit, and will include speeches by city and school district leaders.

Food and drinks will be available throughout the evening. Free refreshments from C&W Market will be offered while supplies last, and several local businesses are expected to sell food at the event, including La Cocinita, Soul & Smoke, MLS Hot Dogs, Rainbow Cone, Cookies with Flavor, and Pop Shop Soda Bar.

Admission is free, and parking will be available at ETHS. The event is sponsored by the City of Evanston, Northwestern's Office of Neighborhood and Community Relations, Northwestern's Department of Athletics and Recreation, Evanston Township High School, and Evanston/Skokie School District 65.
