Evanston Man Gets Prison Time For Conspiracy To Distribute Cocaine: DOJ
An Evanston man will serve 18 years in prison after two kilograms of cocaine were found in his car while driving from Atlanta to Illinois.
EVANSTON, IL — An Evanston man will serve 18 years in prison after he was found guilty of conspiracy to distribute cocaine, United States Attorney Adam L. Mildred announced Thursday.
United States District Court Judge Gretchen S. Lund found Robert Crayron, 48 of Evanston, guilty of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
The Lake County Sheriff's Department stopped Crayton on Interstate 65 on March 14, 2023. During a search of his car, officers found approximately two kilograms of cocaine hidden behind the center console and under the floor mat on the front passenger side.

Authorities found that Crayton had flown from Chicago O'Hare International Airport to Atlanta, Georgia and was driving back to Illinois when law enforcement apprehended him.
Crayton also has two prior felony drug distribution convictions, including a conviction for distribution of crack cocaine near a public elementary school.

Crayton was sentenced to 216 months in prison followed by 6 years of supervised release.
