Evanston Opens Final Guaranteed Income Round For 102 Local Families

EVANSTON, IL — Evanston has announced the launch of the final round of its Guaranteed Income Program, which the city said will support 102 local families.

The initiative is designed to provide direct financial assistance to help households meet essential needs such as nutrition and everyday expenses. The city said the program is intended to offer support toward stability and well-being.

According to the city, the program reflects its continued commitment to investing in residents and making sure families have the resources they need. Community members are invited to attend upcoming information sessions to learn more about the program and the application process. The city said a 2025 tax return is needed to apply.

The first session is scheduled for Thursday, May 7, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Robert Crown Community Center, Room A. A second session is set for Saturday, May 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., also at the Robert Crown Community Center in Room A. According to the city, both sessions will give eligible residents an opportunity to apply and receive guidance on the process.

To qualify, residents must have a household income at or below 185% of the federal poverty guidelines. They also must either be at least 55 or older or have a second-grade student or younger in the household.
