Frankfort Acupuncture Clinic Opens Its Doors For Community Day Of Healing

FRANKFORT, IL — Frankfort's LK Acupuncture is opening its doors to the community for Frankfort Healing Day on Saturday.

"Our community has carried an unimaginable amount of heartbreak these past few weeks," Liz Kelchak-Steffes, owner of LK Acupuncture, told Patch.

Earlier this month, a two-year-old was killed in Frankfort, and his mother is charged with three counts of first-degree murder. A week later, a 6-year-old girl was struck by a school bus and died.

Kelchak-Steffes said she kept asking herself how she could help.

"LK Acupuncture has been part of the Frankfort community for 11 years, and this community has supported us tremendously. Right now, we just want to give some of that love and support back," she said.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, the business at 10087 W. Lincoln Highway, will offer complimentary acupuncture to the community.

"We may not have all the answers, but we know how to care for people. We know how to create a space where people feel safe, seen, heard, and supported," Kelchak-Steffes said. "So that is exactly what we’re going to do."

No appointment is necessary, and there is no expectation of anything in return, she added.

The treatments will "focus on calming the nervous system, and supporting stress, anxiety, grief, and emotional overwhelm," Kelchak-Steffes said.

There will also be a gong ceremony throughout the day.

"Our hope is simply to reach as many people in Frankfort as we can who could use a little extra support right now," Kelchak-Steffes said.
