Frankfort Moves Forward On Multi-Use Path Plans In Prestwick Subdivision

FRANKFORT, IL — At its Monday meeting, the Frankfort Village Board approved an engineering agreement and an application for grant funding for a new multi-use path near the Prestwick subdivision.

Trustee Adam Borrelli said the Village is seeking funding through the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program to construct a path from the northwest end of the Prestwick subdivision through Village-owned property, ComEd-owned property and Kinder Morgan-owned property, and ultimately connecting to the Old Plank Road Trail.

The estimated total project cost is $627,900. ITEP could provide reimbursement of up to 50 percent for right-of-way and easement acquisition costs and up to 80 percent for preliminary engineering and construction costs. According to Board documents, the Village's share of the project would be $125,580.

The Village would find out about the grant award in the spring.

The Board also approved a professional engineering services agreement with Robinson Engineering for phase 1 engineering services. This would cost $27,870, according to Board documents.
