Quarter-Sized Hail, Damage To Buildings Reported From Monday's Storms In Frankfort

FRANKFORT, IL — Severe weather on Monday brought power outages, downed trees and branches, and flooding to Frankfort, and the National Weather Service crews are still assessing damage across the Chicago area.

The National Weather Service has compiled local storm reports, and shared several from the Frankfort area:

• An industrial building collapsed and a semi-truck rolled over near Laraway Road
• A Speedway gas station canopy partially collapsed off of Laraway and Center roads
• Frankfort Public Works building had a wall damaged near Sangmeister and Center roads
• Quarter-sized hail reported on the west side of Frankfort
• Trees snapped and patio doors blown out along Ridgeland Avenue in Frankfort Square

No tornadoes have been confirmed in Frankfort; but the National Weather Service did confirm an EF-0 tornado which impacted western and northwest Orland Park, a tornado which hit Country Club Hills, Hazel Crest, Harvey and Homewood; and an EF-0 in Lansing.

Several thousand people were also originally without power in Frankfort after Monday's storms. As of noon on Wednesday, 337 customers remain without power in Frankfort, 261 are without power in Frankfort Square, and 113 are without power in Frankfort Township, according to the ComEd outage map.
