'Scary At The Prairie' Brings Costume Runs To Frankfort Park

FRANKFORT, IL — Celebrate the Halloween season with a 5K, 1-mile fun run or 100-yard dash at the Scary at the Prairie event on Oct. 17 in Frankfort.

The family-friendly Halloween run will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the 100-yard dash (for ages 5 and under) at Prairie Park in downtown Frankfort.

Then, at 10:40 a.m., the 1-mile fun run will begin for ages 10 and under, followed by the 5K for all ages at 11 a.m.

According to the Village, registration is $15 in costume or $20 without a costume. Online registration is open through Oct. 16. Pre-race packet pick-up ias available at Village hall from Oct. 12-16.

The costume contest will include prizes for best family theme, biggest group theme, funniest costume, scariest costume and most creative costume.

“Whether you’re chasing a 5K personal best, bringing the kids out for their first race, competing for a costume prize, or simply looking for a fun way to celebrate Halloween with the community, Scary at the Prairie is the place to be!" Mayor Keith Ogle said.
