E-Biker In Critical Condition After Collision With Box Truck: Geneva Police

The 52-year-old St. Charles man was brought to a Geneva hospital unconscious after a crash with a truck, police said.

GENEVA, IL — A St. Charles man was hospitalized in critical condition after he collided Friday afternoon with a box truck while riding an e-bike on East Side Drive in Geneva, police said.

Eyewitnesses said the 52-year-old man riding east on High Street around 1:29 p.m. when he failed to stop or yield at a stop sign at East Side Drive. As he entered the intersection, he struck the folded ramp that protruded a few feet from the rear of a box truck headed south on East Side Drive, according to Geneva police.

The man was unconscious when he was brought to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital, where, as of Friday afternoon, he remains in critical condition, police said.

The truck driver and passenger were not injured and have been cooperating with the ongoing investigation. No traffic citations have been issued as of Friday.

East Side Drive remains closed from Geneva Drive to Division Street while the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team and Geneva police investigate the crash.
