Festival Of The Vine Returns For 44th Season: See What's Planned

GENEVA, IL — One of Geneva's most popular seasonal events, Festival of the Vine, is set to return Sept. 11-13 for the 44th year.

Initially a celebration of anything that grows on a vine, the three-day event now revolves around food, beer and wine.

Food and drinks will be the stars of the festival, but the event will also feature live music, an arts and crafts show, wine-themed merchant events, business booths and children's activities. Guests will also have the opportunity to take complimentary horse-drawn carriage rides.

Geneva restaurants will prepare an array of specialties under an outdoor tent that will be set up on the grounds around the Kane County Courthouse in downtown Geneva. The entertainment stage will be set up on James Street, while the arts and crafts show will take place on Campbell Street.

To make way for the popular event, these closures are planned:

Wednesday, Sept. 9:

• James Street (middle of the 300 block to Fifth Street)
• Fourth Street (middle of the 0 to 100 block to James Street)
• Parking restrictions on James and Fourth streets begin at 11:59 p.m. Sept. 8

Saturday, Sept. 12:

• Campbell Street from Third to Fourth streets
• Parking restrictions on Campbell Street begin at 11:59 p.m. Sept. 11

Parking restrictions will begin late Sept. 10, including:

• Fifth Street – both sides of the roadway from State to Campbell streets
• James Street – five spots on the south side west of Third Street
• 400 & 600 blocks of Campbell Street (south side only)
• 200 block of Fourth Street (west side only)

"No parking" signs will be removed once Festival of the Vine ends Sept. 13. Road closures will remain in place until 3 p.m. Sept. 14.

Police said they may use a drone to monitor the festival to provide real-time aerial monitoring.
