Geneva House Damaged In Fire After Smoke Found Coming From Dryer Vent: FD

GENEVA, IL — A house in the 1000 block of Manchester Court remains habitable after a fire broke out Thursday morning, officials said.

Firefighters were dispatched at 7:03 a.m. to the single-story house on Geneva’s East Side after a homeowner noticed smoke inside and called 911.

Crews arrived to find smoke coming from a dryer vent along the side of the house. This resulted in the alarm being upgraded and more firefighters arriving on the scene, officials said.

Firefighters brought the fire under control in about 20 minutes, and the house remained habitable despite sustaining some smoke and water damage, according to a news release.

No injuries were reported. Two adults safely evacuated before firefighters’ arrival.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Firefighters from St. Charles, Batavia, Elburn, North Aurora and Fermilab assisted Geneva crews at the scene, while the Elgin Fire Department provided station coverage during the incident.
