Geneva Trail Closed After ComEd Power Line Snaps

A segment of the trail is closed to pedestrians and cyclists due to a live wire on the path, Geneva officials said.

GENEVA, IL — A section of the Fox River Trail closed Tuesday after a ComEd electric line snapped and fell on the pathway, city officials said.

The trail was blocked off from near the Fabyan Windmill to the city's wastewater treatment plan, located just south of the Union Pacific-West Railway. Pedestrians and cyclists are urged to avoid the area due to the live wire.

The city notified ComEd of the issue. Officials were not provided with a restoration timeline but said the trail segment will be closed until the power line is removed.
