Increased Refuse Rates Go Into Effect Aug. 1 For Glen Ellyn Residents

The rate increase comes as the village's five-year contract with Groot Industries takes effect.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Increased refuse rates for solid waste collection will go into effect Aug. 1 for residents in Glen Ellyn.

Here are the new monthly rates that will take effect:

  • 35-gallon curb pickup: $17.43
  • 65-gallon curb pickup: $20.68
  • 95-gallon curb pickup: $21.76
  • 35-gallon rear pickup: $83.58
  • 65-gallon rear pickup: $86.93
  • 95-gallon rear pickkup: $87.91
  • 35-gallon curb senior pickup: $13.64
  • 35-gallon rear senior pickup: $23.61+
  • 35-gallon compost pickup: $14.06
  • 65-gallon compost pickup: $16.34
  • 95-gallon compost pickup: $20.34

Upcharges will apply for add-on services, including brunch and rush collection.

Compared to 2025's monthly rates, the new rates reflect an increase of 4 percent for compost and between 5.2 percent and 6.5 percent for refuse collection.

The rates reflect those approved when the village signed a five-year contract with Groot Industries in 2024.
