Maplewood Public House Set To Open May 8 In Glen Ellyn: Village Board

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Maplewood Public House is set to officially open May 8 at the former Two Hound Red Brewing Co. location, 486 Pennsylvania Ave., according to village officials.

The date was shared during the village board meeting on April 27.

The 7,850 square foot space features an expanded kitchen, on-site brewing and small-batch beers. The building's existing 15-barrel brewhouse augments Maplewood's current brewing operations.

The food menu features shareable items, salads, sandwiches and entrees, with a focus on Polish-inspired fare. The sandwich selection includes corn dogs, smash burgers and chicken sandwiches.

For entrees, Maplewood offers leniwe kluski, or lazy dumplings, which come stuffed with farmer's cheese, cream, bacon and peas. Boar bolognese bucatini and pan-roasted salmon are also available. The restaurant's 24-ounce Slagel pork chop is billed as "a sight to behold" and serves two people.

Soy corn dogs, cauliflower sandwiches and vegan beet dip are some of Maplewood's meat-free options.

The beer menu features year-round options like Pulaski pils and Fat Pug oatmeal stout. Italian and basque ciders are among the cider picks.

Made with Maplewood's own liquors, the signature cocktails include Pink is Punk, a mix of spruce gin, rhubarb, strawberry, lemon, mint and soda, and Pistachio Smash. The latter blends Maplewood's Fat Pug whiskey and pistachio liqueur with ginger beer, simple syrup, lemon and mint.

Canned cocktails, NA negronis and spirit-free wines, beers and cocktails are also available.

Maplewood Brewery & Distillery recently garnered double gold and runner-up for best in show awards at the the San Francisco International World Spirits Awards for its Fat Pug American Single Malt Whiskey and Wheated Bourbon. The latter was voted among the top wheated bourbons in the world at the event.

Their flagship brewpub in Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood opened in 2014.
