Comcast Scam, Purse Theft Reported In Glenview Blotter
The latest Glenview police blotter also includes identity theft, retail theft, domestic battery and fleeing/eluding reports.
GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
Fleeing And Eluding Police
Officers attempted to stop a vehicle at around 1:38 a.m. June 24, on Milwaukee Avenue in Prospect Heights, after police said the vehicle had an inoperable passenger-side taillight and expired registration. The vehicle fled, according to police.
Harassment By Telephone
Officers responded at 9:21 a.m. June 24, to the 2600 block of Compass Road for a report of harassment by telephone. Police said a former employee sent their former employer a profane text message wishing them death after being terminated.

Theft
A person reported at 8:15 p.m. June 24, that they left their purse unattended in a shopping cart while using the restroom at a business in the 600 block of Milwaukee Avenue. When they returned, the purse had been stolen, according to police.
Trespass Warning
A resident in the 600 block of Arbor Lane reported at 8:49 p.m. June 25, that a person came to the home and asked to go inside because they had grown up there. After asking to see more of the home, the person was asked to leave. Officers spoke with the person and issued a trespass warning not to return, according to police.

Theft
An employee of a business in the 300 block of Waukegan Road reported at 12:11 p.m. June 26, that someone stole a license plate from the business.
Theft
A resident in the 3700 block of Greenleaf Avenue reported at 1:49 p.m. June 26, that an unknown woman and unknown man called and claimed to work for Comcast. The resident provided personal information and debit card information, according to police. Afterward, multiple attempted withdrawals of $444.63 were made from the resident’s account, but they were denied because of insufficient funds. No loss was reported.
Identity Theft
A resident in the 2300 block of Iroquois Drive reported at 1 p.m. June 27, that they allowed someone pretending to be a Hewlett Packard employee to remotely access their computer. The person then gained access to the resident’s bank account, according to police. The resident unplugged the computer before any money could be withdrawn.
Identity Theft, Burglary To Motor Vehicle
A resident in the 3900 block of Carousel Drive reported at 6:10 p.m. June 27, that someone entered their vehicle around 4:20 a.m. and stole their wallet. The resident later noticed multiple fraudulent charges had been made using their credit cards. Police said the resident estimated the total charges at between $500 and $1,000.
Driving On A Revoked License
Claro Duany, 74, of Glenview, was arrested at 2:28 p.m. June 26, in the 2200 block of Patriot Boulevard and charged with driving on a revoked license, no insurance, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper stop following a traffic crash investigation. Duany was processed and released under Cook County non-discretionary pretrial release conditions. He was assigned a July 14 court date at the Skokie Courthouse.
Domestic Battery
Anthony Janickas, 22, of Glenview, was arrested at 5:26 p.m. June 26, in the 3800 block of Brett Lane and charged with domestic battery following a domestic incident. Janickas was processed and taken to Cook County Jail pending a conditions hearing, according to police.
Driving On A Suspended License
Steve Rhee, 73, of Glenview, was arrested at 5:36 p.m. June 26, in the 1600 block of Milwaukee Avenue and charged with driving while license suspended and failure to wear a seatbelt following a traffic stop investigation. Rhee was released with an Aug. 11 court date at the Skokie Courthouse.
Retail Theft
Linday Colbert, 43, of Glenview, was arrested at 12:58 p.m. June 27, in the 2500 block of Pick Drive and charged with felony retail theft of merchandise valued at more than $300. Colbert was processed and released under Cook County non-discretionary pretrial release conditions. She was assigned a June 30 court date at the Skokie Courthouse.
