NSYMCA Community Gallery Features Artwork by Cynthia Jones
Exhibition Runs August 27 – September 24; Proceeds Benefit NSYMCA Visual Arts Programs

Northbrook, IL – August 2026 – The North Suburban YMCA (NSYMCA) is pleased to present a new Community Gallery exhibition featuring the work of artist and photographer Cynthia Jones. The exhibition will be on display from August 27 through September 24 at the NSYMCA Community Gallery, located at 2705 Techny Road in Northbrook.
A Prairie View, Illinois resident, Jones is known for her vibrant abstract paintings, mixed media assemblage, and fine art photography. Her work combines acrylics, ink, photography, and layered textures to create bold, emotionally expressive pieces that celebrate creativity, beauty, and personal connection.
Defined by her refusal to be limited by technique or subject matter, Jones continually evolves her artistic practice. Her current work incorporates shredded photography prints combined with paint and inks, creating richly layered compositions inspired by natural light, intimate emotion, and personal transformation. Her vibrant use of color, expressive forms, and imaginative imagery has earned her recognition as an award-winning artist whose work resonates deeply with viewers.

“It is my intention to soul-connect through my art with those who feel its calling,” said Jones. “I love to see my photographs and art in the hands of those who are inspired to get their own crayons out, brushes wet or looking through the lens.”
“We are excited to showcase Cynthia’s work in our Community Gallery,” said Megan Vazquez of the North Suburban YMCA. “Her unique artistic perspective and creative energy provide an inspiring experience for our members and community.”
