Coroner IDs Man Killed In Fatal Shooting In Round Lake Beach
Coroner says 31-year-old Kevin Rodriguez-Ruiz died from multiple gunshot wounds.
ROUND LAKE BEACH, IL — The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified the man killed in a Sunday night shooting in Round Lake Beach as 31-year-old Kevin Rodriguez-Ruiz of Round Lake Park.
Round Lake Beach police and the Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District responded at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday to the 1200 block of Sunnyside Court after receiving reports of shots fired. When they arrived, officers found Rodriguez-Ruiz suffering from a gunshot wound in the roadway.
He was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy conducted Monday determined Rodriguez-Ruiz died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the coroner's office.

During the investigation, detectives identified a suspect believed to be responsible for the shooting. With assistance from the Illinois State Police, the suspect was located and taken into custody, according to authorities.
Police said the preliminary investigation indicates the victim and suspect knew each other and that the shooting was an isolated incident. Authorities said there is no known ongoing threat to the community.
