2 Hospitalized After Dump Truck, Tow Truck Crash Near Grayslake

Both drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash, police said.

GRAYSLAKE, IL — Two people were hospitalized after a dump truck and tow truck crashed Thursday afternoon near Grayslake, causing major damage and leaving a dump truck and a car rolled over.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Wauconda Fire District responded around 3:50 p.m. to Fairfield Road and Chardon Road in unincorporated Grayslake, according to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner. Authorities said a tow truck carrying a Hyundai SUV was turning left onto Fairfield Road when it pulled in front of a northbound dump truck carrying about 1,000 gallons of water, which then struck the tow truck.

Both drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and the tow truck driver was cited for failing to yield while turning left and failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash, according to the article.
