Grayslake Motorcyclist Dies Days After North Chicago Crash

The collision happened on May 7 on Route 41 in North Chicago. The 36-year-old Grayslake man died on Wednesday at a suburban hospital.

A 36-year-old Grayslake man has died nearly a week after suffering critical injuries in a motorcycle crash in North Chicago, authorities said.

The crash occurred at around 12:10 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, near Route 41 and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. According to preliminary findings, a 2021 BMW motorcycle traveling northbound on U.S. Route 41 struck the rear of a 2021 Kia sedan that was also traveling northbound.

The motorcyclist was ejected from the motorcycle during the collision, according to the Lake County Coroner's Office.

The rider, identified as Rodolfo Suris, 36, of Grayslake, was transported to Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital with life-threatening injuries before later being transferred to Advocate Condell Medical Center. Authorities said Suris died on Wednesday while being treated in the intensive care unit.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office determined Suris died from blunt force injuries sustained in the crash. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
